Born in Milan in 1967, Davide Oldani had a diverse early career comprising training as a chef at Hospitality College and a short period as a professional footballer.
However it was his love of food and his passion for seasonality that finally won him over to the world of gastronomy and the eye of the great Gualtiero Marchesi. Under his management, Oldani was introduced to “good eating”, the balance of ingredients and the ultimate celebration of the seasons in creating menus.
To date he has travelled extensively including the USA and Japan and worked with some of the worlds most iconic chefs - Albert Roux at Le Gavroche in London, Alain Ducasse at the Louis XV in Monaco and the famous French patissier, Pierre Hermé.
Returning to his native Milan in 2003, Oldani opened D’O (to critical acclaim and an almost immediate Michelin star) in Cornaredo on the outskirts of the city. D’O has become a centre for what he has dubbed “Pop” cuisine – popular and accessible to a broad audience.
The philosophy behind the restaurant is to use less expensive and totally seasonal ingredients without losing any of the creative aspects of the chefs craft. This produces dishes and menus costed to appeal to a wider customer base and not just ones able or willing to pay the top prices of many award-winning restaurants.
